Meet Megan!

I am pursuing an undergraduate degree in English at Auburn University. My decision to pursue this degree comes from my love of people, communicating, and serving. In my time at Auburn, I have been heavily involved in volunteer groups, such as Boys and Girls Club, the Literacy Coalition, and youth ministry. Along with volunteering, I delved into work as a peer writing tutor, waitress, and camp counselor. Each of these jobs has allowed me to encourage others and develop relationships through sharing knowledge. The deep sense of community at Auburn University has allowed me to expand my skills through a multitude of relational opportunities.

I began my undergraduate studies as an education major. My time in this field spoke to my passion for service and imparting knowledge. Communicating material to students from a variety of racial, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds revealed my interest in thinking critically about audience and tone.

My work in the writing center encouraged me to reevaluate my reasoning for selecting the teaching field. I worked on the pilot program for distance tutoring, which piqued my interest in the technical side of communication. Through a multitude of collaborative opportunities, I began to discover my interest in communicating with peers while working to develop a product.

Before my third year, I chose to narrow my focus to the business environment. In order to expand my professional skills, I obtained a business minor. Throughout my last two years as an undergraduate student, I presented at multiple national conferences. These exercises allowed me to develop materials for a more professional and formal audience.

During my time at Auburn, I have discovered that I am passionate about business and skilled in writing. I have worked to cultivate my skills in a variety of ways. Continue to look around my site to learn more about many of these endeavors.
